To become a webcam model all you need is a computer, webcam and a high speed internet connection. But it´s not that simple.
If you have a 10 year old computer, it would not be up to the job. Nowadays the best webcam models have HD webcams to broadcast shows with great image quality. For that you need a computer capable of dealing with such high quality. Anything older than a Pentium 4 or equivalent would be insufficient. I recommend you to get a laptop with i3 processor as a minimum, or a modern desktop computer. Today all desktop computers will do the job just fine. Webcam broadcasting is not a demanding task, unless you have a very old PC.
The majority of webcam models use laptops, due to it´s mobility. It´s quite easy to broadcast with them as you can place them anywhere you want.
A common laptop configuration would be i3 or i5 intel processor, 4 gb of ram, and the amount of hard disk you like, 500 gb would be more than enough. Cheap laptops usually have poor screens, but very bad viewing angles. ( That means that if you look the screen from a side, colors fade and picture quality worsens. To avoid that get one with an IPS screen, which have a lot better quality.
Another thing that i recommend is a SSD drive. It´s a new type of hard disk that is much much much faster than the regular ones. They don´t have much capacity, but they are so much faster. It´s a completely new experience. That little device boosts the performance of a computer to a new level. We highly recommend it.
As for the webcam itself, just go for the Logitech brand. They are well established and they are very easy to find. Just get an HD capable webcam, that can serve you well in the future. Image quality is often limited by the upload speed of your internet connection. But if in the future you upgrade your internet connection to something faster, you´re image quality will improve automatically without spending a dime.
And to finish, remember to properly illuminate your room. Lighting is key. Don´t do shows in a dark place. Customers want to see you clearly, and webcams do not work very well in low light conditions. Do your best to improve your room lighting, and your customers will appreciate that.
